Ok, can I ask you to run this on a virtual terminal, before login in and while gdm is sitting there waiting for you to login
$ ps aux | grep settings this will give the process ID for the gdm's gnome-settings-daemon, so: $ sudo strace -p $pid_of_gdm_gsd -o /tmp/strace.txt then try logging in with your normal user and wait until the gdm's g-s-d process is gone, and then please attach the /tmp/strace.txt to this bug -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/649809 Title: the session settings manager can try starting before the login screen one exits _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
