Sometimes (!) after starting up my laptop from hybernation from a session with external screen and vertical stripes on laptop screen, the new session displays on both laptop screen and external screen. Probably because I reconnected the external screen at a certain moment while the laptop got out of hibernation.
The sis/plain driver one gets when installing Ubuntu out of the box can switch in the modes via special function key: - laptop only - external only - both screens In short, I think it is possible to support these three modes via the special function key for this driver too. Perhaps someone in the X community with experience on this matter could have a look at it?
