As far as I am concerned, it's the exact same. He compiled the driver which was published by Antonio some time ago. The nice thing is, that he made a deb package which makes installing a lot easier + he didn't made a debug build which makes the whole driver a lot smaller (and maybe faster but I can't say that for sure, I think that would only be the case if you use a debugger). So 1280x800 should work, too! Test it and report your results (maybe you should backup your old driver). I'll do that later, too!
