There is an 'upstream' bug raised for pidgin, which is linked to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pidgin-microblog/+bug/1190406
It has to be fixed upstream (pidgin devs), get added into debian and then can be pulled into ubuntu repos. Regards, Phill.
