Why don't you mount your hard drive as an external one on your desktop PC (as you are suggesting you will do whilst the laptop is away) and then copy the data directly onto the fixed hard drive on that PC... then re-install the Windows OS that was on the Packard Bell and send it to them with that on?

It's what I'd do.

Seems a MUCH simpler solution to me than taking out the hard drive and them not fixing the issue... .

Seems to me, Gareth, that you're being deliberately obstructive in terms of allowing them to fix your laptop under warranty... seems to me that they've actually been quite helpful to you... I've had much worse, and I'd have been very happy with the potential outcome of your support call.

Also, regarding 0845 a simple Google search pulls up this website http://www.weq4u.co.uk/ which allows you to call a landline number (0333 5432111) and then when it answers type in an 0845 number and it'll connect... so it isn't exactly rocket science, is it?

Sean

Because a) the desktop pc does not have a hard drive, I will be installing mine internally and b) I don't have a copy of windows to install on my hard drive.

I wasn't aware of this website you mention and I don't know if that number would be included in the numbers I can call with my bundled minutes. I'll check that out.
