My original bug report is at: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1040037 and from there it was reported upstream as: https://bugs.linuxfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1080
It doesn't specifically say it was fixed, but when I updated Raring last night the problem has been overcome - and there were some CUPS updates included. Quantal seems still to have the problem though. Barry.
