(and no, it isn't down the back of the sofa) So, here's the thing, I bought one of these: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/265218
I've received it, and installed Ubuntu 11.04 on there (yes, even with Unity) and it's lovely. Everything I wanted it for works a treat - Wifi's great, battery life, about what I was expecting (but I've not really pushed it, so I don't know for sure) and the video is great - 1366x768. Anyway, when I unboxed it, I noticed the Function feature for F12 shows an antenna symbol and the letters BT. As a geek, I'd not bothered to look at the paperwork which came with it, but it clearly says there "All models, while they may have dissimilar colouring or placement of features, all include the same hardware"... and later says "bluetooth". I crack open a terminal, to run hcitool dev... and it says "Devices:"... and then nothing. Hmm, I think, maybe it's not switched on by default (which, bluetooth really shouldn't be), so I toggle the feature, and check it again - still nothing. lspci gives me the following: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Memory Controller Hub (rev 09) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) 00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) 00:1a.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 03) 00:1a.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #5 (rev 03) 00:1a.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #6 (rev 03) 00:1a.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #2 (rev 03) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 03) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 2 (rev 03) 00:1c.2 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 3 (rev 03) 00:1c.4 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 5 (rev 03) 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 03) 00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 03) 00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 03) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #1 (rev 03) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev 93) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation ICH9M LPC Interface Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.2 IDE interface: Intel Corporation ICH9M/M-E 2 port SATA IDE Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) SMBus Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.5 IDE interface: Intel Corporation ICH9M/M-E 2 port SATA IDE Controller (rev 03) 02:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Again, I toggle the function key, and it's still showing the same data. Likewise, toggling the function while checking dmesg and tail -f /var/log/syslog shows me nothing new. Doing a spot of research, it appears that the RTL8191SEvB should have a bluetooth feature embedded in it, so I wonder, have I missed a trick here, is there something else I need to do, or do I write it off, especially as I have three USB-Bluetooth devices, which I know work already. -- Jon "The Nice Guy" Spriggs -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/
