This is all very well and good, but how many people in this country have
greater than 1mbps upload speed on their broadband connections? I would
suggest it's a single figure in terms of percentages...

So, assuming you can get a high proportion of these people, there might be
some hope BUT let's look at 5mbps upload speed (that's 5-10x the UK average)
how long is it going to take to upload 80GB?!?!

These figures are, by the way, completely excluding overheads such as error
correction which will bring the speed down, but we're going to assume 5mbps
MEANS 5mbps...

5mbps = 5/8mb/second... 625k/second... 37.5mb/minute.... that means it's
going to take 27 minutes (or so) per GB so that is going to take about 35
HOURS for an 80GB file...

35 hours?! ?!?!

As others have said, a 35 hour upload is very likely to fail... then you
have to start again...

And most ISP connections are AT LEAST 5 times slower than this, so that'd be
175 HOURS+... for the record, that's about a week!!

A WEEK?!

Why are we even having this discussion?
