Hi there ... I was down at the OpenSource Expo last week. Michael Brown (Fen Systems) in our small corner (.org village) kindly brought a Belkin N150 router so we could share internet. It's a £25 offer from PC World at the moment. My Dell Mini 10v couldn't use it. The connection was made, but as soon as I sent/received data, it was dropped. My Laptop worked fine as did most of the other equipment folk had brought.
My Netbook connected OK to the hub that the guy next door had brought, so I knew it had to be this particular Belkin hub that was the problem. When I got back home, I went to PC World and bought one. I can always sell it on e-bay later. I can repeat the problem easily. The Wi-fi chip is a Broadband BCM 4132 and both available drivers (Broadcom STA proprietary and B43) show the fault. Since I got the Netbook, I've experienced the problem occasionally when away from home, and not realised what it was about. Now I can see what is happening. What useful thing might I do next?
