I have a rubbish bin (Deleted Items folder) launcher on my top panel, along with my other five standard launchers, which are Main Menu, Firefox, Evolution, Gedit, and Rhythmbox. I have it there because when I download pdf's, I download them to the desktop first, and if I decide I do not want to keep them, I delete them and then empty the rubbish bin. Similarly, when I copy jpg's or gif's to blog posts, I copy them first to the desktop, then upload them to my blog's media folder from there, then delete my desktop copies of them.
