That's very true, I just went to the original site which Gordon posted about (broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk) and did a speed test. It suggested that I get about 13Mbit on 20Mbit Virgin cable. I then went to SpeedTester.net and did two tests, one on the recommended server (Maidenhead I believe) and got about 15Mbit, and then another test on a server in Birmingham and got about 18Mbit. Okay, cable is different technology wise, but it shows how the speed testers can vary. One tip I found to get a slightly increased speed is to make sure your router is as close to the master socket if possible. I'll use my mum as an example, she's on O2 and on an extension cable she was getting about 16Mbit, we moved her router right next to the phone socket (which was a pain due to the lack of power socket near the phone socket and it increased to about 18Mbit.
