Yep, it's multi-platform and there are binaries available for Linux,
Windows and (if I recall correctly) Mac too.

The configuration works the same on both Linux and Windows.

There's a version for Ubuntu in the repositories (i.e. you can install
it using the Synaptic package manager or the Add/Remove Programs
option). There's a Windows installer at http://www.virtualbox.org
