Many thanks! That is absolutely brilliant and now X.11 is fast and fluid again on my machine. Wonderful tip - I am extremely grateful. I did try, experimentally, switching back to Compiz with DRI off, but it all went horribly wrong. Nothing appeared on a blank white screen except corrupted icons for the alt-tab task switcher, and it seems the Ctrl-Alt-Backspace shortcut to kill X no longer works. 10min of fiddling & a few reboots later, I'd reverted back to non-DRI Metacity & all is normal again. I still have the keyboard issues to resolve but I now think that is something else. I've also uninstalled Compiz to make sure it doesn't accidentally get re-enabled. -- Liam Proven • Profile: http://www.linkedin.com/in/liamproven Email: lpro...@cix.co.uk • GMail/GoogleTalk/Orkut: lpro...@gmail.com Tel: +44 20-8685-0498 • Cell: +44 7939-087884 • Fax: + 44 870-9151419 AOL/AIM/iChat/Yahoo/Skype: liamproven • LiveJournal/Twitter: lproven MSN: lpro...@hotmail.com • ICQ: 73187508 -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/
