To explain: the router DHCP assigns addresses to the devices on the LAN; but I do bind MACs to these IP addresses, to so that I can be sure which devices have which IPs. You say your resolv.conf sets itself to the router. I don't really understand why mine didn't, and - more particularly - how it decided which DNS to use instead. Thanks for your thoughts.
