Hello All,

I would be most grateful if anyone would tell
me whether there is a way out of the following:
( I have v.7.10 )

I click on the "there are some upgrades" icon.
The update manager starts up, does some preliminary
things, then comes up with the following message:

// \\
* Not all updates can be installed*

Run a partial upgrade, to install as many updates as possible.

This may be cause by:
* A previous upgrade which didn't complete
* Unofficial software packages not provided by Ununtu
* Normal changes of a pre-release version of Ubuntu

[Partial Upgrade] [ X Close ]
\\ //

I can't think it can be any of those reasons (except
possibly the last). I have not done anything unusual
or adventurous.

Anyway, I then click on Partial Upgrade. Enter my
administration password. Then after a few moments up
comes the message:

// \\
*C**ould not Calculate the Upgrade*

[ X Close ]
\\ //

Regards,
Louis Gidney
