Apologies, it wasn't meant to be patronising! Although I can see how it
comes across that way.

I was just thinking that if this is an etiquette that users new to
mailing lists are to have thrown at them, we don't want to make the
rules so complicated or difficult to follow that they are put off.

On the other hand we do want users (new and old) to follow some
guidelines. I was basically asking about getting the balance right.

Maybe it's best to leave it as it is and I'll crawl back into my hole:-)
