Hi Simon, actually mysql.1 comes from upstream. This remains undocumented in that man page. It also isn't documented in the upstream manual:
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/mysql-command-options.html But it is referenced at the top as something that is shared among many utilities, and a link is here: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/option-files.html#option-file- options So while this is not the most awesome reference, it is suggested in the "SEE ALSO" in the bottom of the man page. I'm going to mark this as Confirmed / Low. This needs to be forwarded upstream, and ideally a new man page of mysql_defaults_options should be created and referenced from all the other man pages. ** Changed in: mysql-dfsg-5.1 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Tags added: upstream ** Also affects: mysql-5.5 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: mysql-5.5 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: mysql-5.5 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-dfsg-5.1 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/779670 Title: The usage of --defaults-file is undocumented in the man To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-5.5/+bug/779670/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
