I find it convenient to have system-wide setup (controlled by system) for 1 - Ringtone 2 - Notification 3 - Alarms 4 - Music, video, games, & other media
When I'm watching video, volume buttons change context-4 When in messaging/calendar - context-2 (Notification) When in clock - context-3 (Alarms) Anywhere else - context-1 (Ringtone)
