Hi, just wanted to add my two cents. I've been looking for a PDA but none of them have all the features I want, especially the OS. I'd really rather not use windows and when I saw this project I was very happy. If I buy a PDA, say HP, which has windows already installed can I install Ubuntu over the top, just like Feisty? And get apps like GPS that it may not have had originally? Or is that dependent on hardware?
I'm after a PDA that can give me Phone(gsm) and MP3 that interact such that when I answer the phone while music is playing it while automatically pause until the call is complete and then restart at call termination. I'd also like to be able to send files via phone. I'm looking for a reliable GPS app that can connect into the phone so that my position can be SMS'd, and of course receive same. I live in China but I'm neither fluent in the language nor the geography. Street signs and maps here are notoriously inaccurate (for a variety of reasons) and getting and giving directions usually results in misdirection. I don't have any particular desire for email/net access as this is far more practical and inexpensive from my base desktop. Nor am I particularly interested in watching video/playing games, whatever, on said device. I do need a camera incorporated, obviously its hardware, but I'm wondering if the upload/download and editing software is selectable? ie something better than usually provided with these.
