Hey Greg, I just looked over the site for this software. The idea behind it sounds interesting.
I am not in the medical field, but my mother is a registered nurse (RN) and my sister-in-law is a certified nurses assistant (CNA). The software is a very interesting concept, but not to knock the idea of having it included with the Ubuntu distribution, but I think that if it is fully looked over by the MOTUs, it could easily be packaged and placed in the repositories. If that doesn't work out, you could always package it yourself and distribute it from SourceForge or from GetDEB. Now on the lighter side, someone could make something along the lines of Medical-buntu or keep the name already in place and use PatientOS and form it with a medical office feel to it without all the other default stuff that is installed with a normal Ubuntu installation. The possibilities are endless. All you have to do is get a team together that wants to take on such a project and run with it. I'm pretty sure that if something like this was made, my mom and sister-in-law would use it on their laptops. -- John Pyper Dell | Managed Print Services BaD_CrC on irc.freenode.net #ubuntu #ubuntu-offtopic On 10/23/07, Greg Caulton <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi, > > I just installed Ubuntu desktop and that was very exciting, I like > this distribution. > > I am developing an open source healthcare information system, first > for physician practices, then for hospitals. http://www.patientos.org > > The rich client software is easy to install (run setup.exe, next, > next, next, finish) but the server side software requires more effort > - install PostgreSQL or Oracle, install JBoss (init.d), etc. Despite > this being fairly easy for those with a technical slant, I need it to > be plug and play for all docs. > > Since Ubuntu is very easy to install - I would like to have an Ubuntu > distribution which includes PatientOS fully installed, configured and > ready for any client to connect to it on a local network. > > I expect I could do that, but is there Marketing opportunities such > that we could have PatientOS included on a regular distribution? > > thanks > > Greg Caulton > > Boston, MA > http://www.patientos.org -- ubuntu-marketing mailing list [email protected] Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-marketing
