Hi folks -

There has been some talk about a press/media initiative. Ben
Duivesteyn, one of the members of the amazing Australian LoCo team, is
working along these lines already. See

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Letter_to_APC

for more details. I think Ben's efforts are great and are a perfect
example of the kind of impact a distributed community can having -
making a difference where you live. Great work!

One of the things that the Marketing Team could help with is pulling
together a How To or Resource Guide or email templates for other LoCo
teams to help do this, as well as communicating with the LoCo teams to
let them know of the initiative. There are inter-team relationships to
be formed to make this happen successfully, but I think it is
reasonable for the Marketing Team to think of ways they can help the
other Ubuntu teams as well as marketing directly to people outside the
Ubuntu Community (a la the SpreadUbuntu campaign). Working with other
Ubuntu teams can take the form of providing resources to them, as well
as finding and spreading good marketing ideas and materials that already
exist in pockets of the community.

Cheers,
Jane
