Here is my point of view:

GNU is kind of like the second or last name to Linux ... at least that is
what Stallman wanted. But when you refer to your friend you seldom use his
full name ... what you use is only the first name. No doubt that GNU is an
integral part of Linux ... even Linus accepts that ... but using GNU/Linux
is just plain tiresome.
