Yes I like that idea. It could be more stable for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS users to use 
more recent GNOME applications via Flatpak rather than the PPA (the PPA could 
be kept, but if it works well then perhaps Flatpak should be the recommended 
option). Or if we want to avoid using too many universal package formats we 
could try bundling all the GNOME apps bundled for Flatpak into Snappy instead - 
but that could be a lot of work to maintain. I think it would be in keeping 
with Ubuntu Next philosophy to try and get an Ubuntu GNOME LTS + recent 
front-end GNOME applications system to work. Having said that, the Flatpak 
system installs a GNOME 3.20 runtime so I don't know if it would be much more 
stable than simply running GNOME 3.20 on Ubuntu LTS via the APT PPA?
