$ ldd /usr/bin/inkscape|grep gtkmm libgtkmm-2.4.so.1 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgtkmm-2.4.so.1 (0x00007fb4612ce000) $ dpkg -S /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgtkmm-2.4.so.1 libgtkmm-2.4-1v5:amd64: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgtkmm-2.4.so.1 $ dpkg-query -W libgtkmm-2.4-1v5:amd64 libgtkmm-2.4-1v5:amd64 1:2.24.5-1 $
And I can see that the inkscape package does depend on "libgtkmm-2.4-1v5 (>= 1:2.24.0)". If you have /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgtkmm-2.4.so.1 (-> libgtkmm-2.4.so.1.1.0), then is this an ldconfig issue? Did you run out of disk space at any point? Does "sudo ldconfig" fix it? Can you reproduce the problem on an Artful VM? If not, you could figure out how your system differs from there. If you can, you should be able to provide exact steps to reproduce your issue.
