To emphasize it might be better to write _nothing happens._ instead of NOTHING HAPPENS!!!!! capital letters easily could be misunderstood. Repeated punctuation character seems to be caused by a broken keyboard or tremor. >> My System: Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64-bit, Cinnamon version 2.8.8 > >This is not a Mint list either. Indeed, but chances are good that subscribers of https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-users are willing to help Mint users, too. I have to admit that I most of the times dislike people who chose Mint and ask for support on an Ubuntu mailing list, but I guess the majority of subscribers have another point of view and have absolutely no problems with a request from a Mint user. However, this wasn't a request, it was a complain, so we only could advice to be more careful with upgrades. Ubuntu and the Ubuntu based Mint are release model distros, so apart from security related upgrades not much happens. If there should be an upgrade for software that is very important for a user, it's good practise to read news and release notes on the upstream homepage and maybe not that important, but anyway worth reading, the release notes of the package, before upgrading. Reading package release notes could be less interesting for users and also it's not that easy to do before upgrading, but taking a look at the homepage of upstream, not Debian, the real upstream of the people who write this software is vital. Nobody needs to do it for each lib, but for important software this is something that does help to avoid wasting time with trouble.
