pull-lp-source and pull-debian-source are about as easy as it can be IMHO, and offer a lot more functionality (downloading from different pockets, releases, and Debian). We don't install those by default, though, they are in ubuntu-dev-tools. But these are obvious candiates for replacing "apt-get source" in the absence of deb-src apt sources.
