That is a good point; I was talking about Desktop CDs though. I note (e.g. on http://mirror.csclub.uwaterloo.ca/ubuntu-releases/7.10/) that the server has its own 64-bit CD image (ubuntu-7.10-server-amd64.iso) which is only just over 500 MB and so is in no danger of running out of space any time soon. So keep the 64-bit server install as a CD, but transition the 64-bit desktop edition to DVD.
