Hi Saivann, Thanks for you encouragement and a friendly post. I am stuck at booting into the boot menu because it doesn't seem to appear,- No grub menu. and I don't know the key combo to make it. I know you are not really here to support this basic lack of knowledge on my part but a pointer to where I can start reading would be much appreciated. After the machine starts it boots straight into the ubuntu splash and then language selection. If I put 'all_generic_ide' at the F4 prompt I get further. The install goes as far as a HH screen then the window that comes up to check the install freezes. Thanks Nick
