The aircrack-ng driver worked for me, to get me wi-fi network and internet access. However, it wasn't really all that reliable. I noticed that download speeds in Firefox, Update Manager, and Synaptic would sometimes drop to 0kb/s / "Unknown". Signal strength for the current network as displayed in the notification area icon would fluctuate wildly as well, and I couldn't see the signal strength of networks in the network list.
And then its unreliability got really noticeable when I started playing online shooters like OpenArena. I would get "Connection Interrupted" every 2 minutes for about 5-10 seconds. Obviously, very disruptive to gameplay. So I ended up switching to ndiswrapper+win98 drivers. It's rock solid, I can see the signal strength of networks in the network list, and my current signal strength doesn't fluctuate anymore. The point of this post is to say that I don't believe the aircrack-ng drivers are suitable as a replacement for the current drivers. If anyone wants to prove me wrong, please feel free. :) -- rtl8187 drops connection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/182473 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
