I get both of these problems on the two up-to-date hardy systems I have access to. One is running AMD64 and the other is running the 32-bit x86. Both use the nvidia-glx-new binary driver and have compiz enabled. The 64-bit machine has this video card:
nVidia Corporation G70 [GeForce 7300 GT] (rev a1) and the 32-bit install (on a Macbook Pro) has: nVidia Corporation GeForce 8600M GT (rev a1) On both machines, 100% of the time, when I start xdvi only part or none of the first page is displayed. If I resize, then the page is displayed, and usually things work fine after that. But about 10% of the time, while using xdvi, I can make the X server crash. There doesn't seem to be any specific action that I can do to cause the crash.
