I think this bug should be reopened, since there is no confirmation of a fix with a hardy install (using compiz and nvidia-glx-new), and I can reproduce it every time.
To me, the fact that xdvi doesn't display properly until a resize is a very minor issue. The crashing of the X server is much more problematic, as it happens quite regularly. What can I do to help debug this? Should I install xserver-xorg-core-dbg?
