Chris, I made some other tests and I have noticed that before I was wrong in one aspect: - at boot (with wi-fi disabled) eth0 doesn't appear if I type ifconfig (only eth1 appeared) - if I disable network with nm-applet the network connection is still active as I described before, and only when I re-check the flag, in nm-applet, eth0 appears in ifconfig.
