@ericw You have a different problem so please create a new bug report. Most likely your problem is, that your monitor sends wrong or no information similar to this one https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14726#c19. You could possibly fix this with some Xorg lines like described in the bug report.
