Thormod, I really do not believe that I installed the packages you want me to uninstall.....actually, I just did a search in synaptic and see that neither one of the packages you want me to uninstall are installed. I'm not trying to contradict you, but there is nothing for me to uninstall at the moment.......now it is possible that I ran the batch test above on another machine, but I would not have a clue which one...so, the machine I am currently on does not have the packages you mention, yet I still experience the CPU issue with the screensavers that ship default. my first action on any new install is to select one of the low CPU screensavers as my default to prevent CPU burn out.
