I can confirm that after the latest firefox update, the bookmarks
disappear. Launching firefox from a terminal gives:

(firefox:6024): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager:
Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols 
specified are supported and host-based authentication failed.


Deleting the .mozilla directory and importing old bookmarks works for a while, 
but eventually the bookmarks
disappear again. Clicking on "tools -> addons" as suggested above crashes the 
browser.

lost, and toolbar (back, forward, reload, stop) doesn't work
