I have an iMac Core2Duo circa October 2007. I attached output of lspci. I had the 'cannot resume after suspend' issue consistently. I fell back to 2.6.24-12-generic #1 SMP. The issue disappeared -- progress! It is a little slow at waking up but it definitely wakes up.
I did try the -19 in hardy-proposed. Unfortunately, this had the side effect of a Gnome pure white screen (literally) after the normal Ubuntu pale orange background is displayed. Nothing will get me the desktop (shaking mouse, tapping keyboard keys, waiting 10 minutes). Fortunately, I was able to bust into to a login prompt, login as the root, and reboot. So, it looks like -19 needs some testing with iMacs and other Macs.
