I logged into the test user account mentioned above, pressed Alt-F2, so
that I could type a command and I typed "metacity --replace" to disable
Compiz. If it wasn't right, tell me.

Now pasting works even in the case mentioned above, where selecting text
in gedit with "normal mode" and then switching the lyrics window to
"edit mode" didn't work.

I also discovered on the test user account that when you restart compiz
using the "compiz" command, pasting between apps and lyrics window still
works. If I log off with the test user and log on again, everything is
back to normal with the test results mentioned above.

And I don't know if it matters, but when clicking the "Save" button, for
the fraction of a second there appears the text "Nach Liedtexten
suchen..." (German for "Searching for lyrics") and then the old text is
there.
