I'm having the same (or worse) problem. I was running dapper on my G4 Quicksilver with no problems. I try to dist-upgrade to Edgy and after rebooting, I end up with a blank screen. I switch over to a terminal and it won't let me log in.
So, I download the edgy ppc live CD. The computer starts up very slowly, but eventually I get to the desktop. I try to install, but when I get to filling in fields, my keyboard doesn't work at all. I try typing in open office and I have the same problem. I pull up a terminal window, and I still have problems (which would probably explain why I couldn't log in). My mouse, which is plugged into the keyboard, works fine.
