Leann, Neither all_generic_ide nor acpi=off allowed to boot into LiveCD environment. With acpi=off, the clocksource issue goes away, but the boot process still fails and busybox loads from initramfs. Between the last line of output from the boot process and the time busybox comes up, there is a delay of approximately 30 seconds, during which the system attempts to access the hard drive - the HDD light flashes and the heads tick once every second or so.
At this point, this is primarily an academic exercise, of course, since it would seem I am the only one affected by this problem, and I have worked around it way back when. I am curious what it is that causes this behavior, but I suppose I should just get a new laptop. This one, however, despite its '04 vintage, is but 2 lbs and, well, just works, and I am yet to find a model to replace this. Doe MacBook Air run Ubuntu? :) Thanks and regards. ** Attachment added: "04222008(005).jpg" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/13715410/04222008%28005%29.jpg -- hardy alpha6 livecd fails to boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/201932 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
