We found that this is caused by 'gnome-display-properties' which is in gnome-control-center package. When user changes some details in this app and saves them, they are written into unknown file for him (~/.gnome2/monitors.xml). Then he sets these properties back. And after each login he gets confused about the display properties.
This should be solved by the following: Suppose that user had changed display properties (resolution: 1024x768; screen rotation: left) in the gnome-display-properties. and then changed display properties in grandr-applet back (resolution: 1400x1050; screen rotation: normal). All other applications which could change display properties, e.g. grandr-applet, xrandr, displayconfig-gtk, should change these properties also in user-specific file (~/.gnome2/monitors.xml). Maybe there should be some better hierarchy of user-specific settings e.g: ~/.gnome2/settings/ * display.xml * input.xml (or keboard.xml and mice.xml) * hardware.xml * firewall.xml Or something in this way. ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: xorg => gnome-control-center -- screen rotated to left on Intel 945 card after login on hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/204721 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
