In those few cases i've got problems with Synaptic (7.10), i have solved it with: "sudo apt-get install -f" or "sudo dpkg --configure -a" from terminal. In Ubuntu 8.04 beta the system solved all peripherals automatic. Try to find nessesary drivers trough Synaptic if possible. Best regards...
