Hi, rather than build your own binaries, I recommend you enable the gutsy-backports repository, and install the mscore package. Note that this will require you to install a SoundFont. Fluid is a Free GM/GS soundfont, and the Debian unstable packages should install cleanly on Gutsy. See [0]. I *do not recommend* that anybody installs packages from external repositories, however; fluid is a special case as it builds no binaries, installing only two files to /usr/share/sounds/sf2.
