Hardy is now close to it's release, it will be the last Kubuntu to ship KDE 3, and it won't be an LTS like Ubuntu. If this bug doesn't have a trivial fix, then I think it is not worth spending time on this issue. There are much more serious problems to care for. KDE 4 is working as expected, that is more important for the future.
