Public bug reported:

After starting up my laptop which is running the latest 8.04 development
branch, the kernel displays the following message:

Starting up ...

[    0.000000] ACPI: DMI BIOS year==0, assuming ACPI-capable machine

After GRUB started booting, and before usplash is started. This message
displays for about three or four seconds, and then Ubuntu starts and
works normally. I suspect that these three/four extra seconds add delay
to Ubuntu's startup. I don't get why it is assuming that my notebook is
ACPI-capable, of course it is because it's not even two years old yet,
it's a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo 1505 Pi - further information can be found
here: http://www.fujitsu-siemens.nl/Resources/55/533852347.pdf - with a
Core 2 Duo T5500. If necessary I'll be prepared to provide additional
information, of course.
