I confirmed Roger's observation, this bug is still present in Hardy Alpha 5. With the number of 64bit nvidia 8xxx users out there we really should fix this before the full release of Hardy, because although there are workarounds many newbies won't be bothered to go to the time, trouble, and effort to find/implement them (especially since the rival distros - suse, fedora, etc.. - don't have this problem).
If Fabio Papa is right - and it sounds like he probably is - then is there any chance of getting uvesafb into the Hardy in time to fix this problem?
