gnome-ppp.c: 811, 812, 813, 818, 820, 832, and 825 have typos in them that appear to be causing the corruption in the users .wvdial.conf file. Docking and minimize get clobbered no matter what the on/off setting is. DNS entries get corrupted then the manual mode is used. I originally configured my DNS entries manually as I had done under 6.06 LTS and it took about 60 seconds to get to my home page at my ISP. Setting the mode to auto DNS cut that to about 3 seconds.
I will make changes to correct the typos, recompile, test and report back sometime tomorrow.
