This can be X security in the following cases (I do not know IPrint, so
these are speculations):

1. IPrint by itself has no GUI but pops up a dialog if a password is
needed. When started out of a sub shell of a certain application it is
possible that the DISPLAY variable is not set for it and so it cannot
open a window.

2. IPrint is run as another user than the user who is running the
desktop.

In general, independent of whether it is really an X security problem,
this is a bug of IPrint. Please report the problem to the supplier from
which you got IPrint.
