Diego, as you might have noticed, I got a response and have been able to work out some conditions that cause the problem. The activity is currently at the abovementioned bug 79289. I'll of course report any conclusive solutions back to this one. Meanwhile, do have a look to see whether you can contribute/share thoughts?
