trackerd does not depend on X so cannot auto-pause on its own it needs the tray icon/applet to do this (or some other X app)
other indexers have tray icons including google to allow manual pausing and this is a desirable feature its up to ubuntu devs whether to have the applet on by default or not. Btw the icons can easily be changed if they are too close to deskbar or ubuntu wants to use something else -- tray icon appears even when tracker is disabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/177398 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
