I 've installed openvpn-dco-dkms 0.2.20260804-noble0_all.deb from the
openvpn repo at
https://build.openvpn.net/debian/openvpn/release/2.6/pool/noble/main/o/openvpn-
dco-dkms/ to no avail. It still fails.
It looks like the latest 7.0.0-38 has backported the newest API for the
OpenVPN module, but the openvpn-dco-dkms still uses the previous one. AI
log analysis follows:
The 7.0.0-38 headers say:
void setup_udp_tunnel_sock(struct net *net, struct sock *sk, ...)
but ovpn-dco 0.2.20260804 has this compatibility wrapper:
static inline void ovpn_setup_udp_tunnel_sock(struct net *net, struct sock *sk,
struct udp_tunnel_sock_cfg *cfg)
{
setup_udp_tunnel_sock(net, sk->sk_socket, cfg);
}
That is wrong for Ubuntu's 7.0 kernel headers.
The wrapper should pass sk, not sk->sk_socket:
setup_udp_tunnel_sock(net, sk, cfg);
The reason this slipped through is particularly nasty: the DCO source
uses a kernel-version test:
#if LINUX_VERSION_CODE < KERNEL_VERSION(7, 1, 5)
Ubuntu has apparently backported the API change into its 7.0.0-38
kernel, so the version-based test gets the wrong answer.
